Science is a hands-on laboratory class. You will be doing many laboratory activities which require the use of chemicals that are perfectly safe when handled properly. Safety in the science classroom is the Number One priority for teachers, students and parents. To ensure a safe science classroom, a list of rules has been developed and provided to you (see the lab Safety Contract). These rules MUST be followed at all times. This document must be signed by the student and a parent/guardian before participating in any laboratory activity. A copy of this document is available on the class website.
General Guidelines
Follow all instructions and rules on the laboratory safety sheets in addition to all verbal instructions.
Wear protective eyewear at all times when instructed to do so.
Refrain from loud talking, running, throwing, horseplay and performing unauthorized lab procedures.
Refrain from eating, drinking and gum chewing.
Come to lab prepared with all lab materials - including completed pre-lab assignments, if any.
Dress according to pre-lab instructions: short-sleeved clothing, no open-toes shoes, tie back long hair,...

Students who fail to follow the above laboratory instructions will be removed from the laboratory and receive a failing grade for that activity. Should a student be permanently banned from laboratory activities, alternate assignments will be assigned.
